And just like that, my baby boy turned one, Philadelphia PA family lifestyle photographer

There are so many things I could say about being a mom of two amazing, adorable, spirited, beautiful children… if I wasn’t so tired, that is! The last year has gone by in more than a blur, it has been more like a sleep deprived stupor. But the number one thing, which seems so simple when everyone tells you, is that you don’t have as much time and attention to spend on your second child. When my daughter was a baby, it was just the two of us, all day, every day. That presented its own challenges of course, but what I had no lack of was time to focus on her. Often, we’d hang out at home and I’d take photos of her doing the simplest things, my mind being blown at how much she was learning and how quickly she was growing.

Needless to say, I don’t do that very much with my son. Oh, I take photos of him plenty, but rarely have I taken time to just be with him and revel in the little things that make him who he is. So on this day, when he woke up from his nap, I came to get him camera in hand. And while my daughter not-napped in the next room (that’s what we call it when she’s supposed to be sleeping and is doing everything but), I spent some precious time just with Tobin, preserving my little boy in all his newly one year old glory. And he was so into it!

The many faces of Tobin. That little nose scrunch is my absolute favorite thing he does and I hope he never loses it.
His long lashes, and his little fingers, things I want to remember. He’s so big already, I’ll blink and he won’t have dimples on his knuckles anymore.

Done with the crib, we moved on to his reading chair. He climbs on everything and is really good at it! My daughter is a sitter, but not this kid.

One new development I’ve noticed is that books don’t go immediately into his mouth anymore. He actually looks at them, “reads” them, turns the pages and comments on what he sees. But I love how his legs and arms are still considered equally useful limbs to him.
