The way your daughter gets jam on her face when she eats her toast. The way your baby’s chubby fingers reach for your coffee cup. The giggles, goofiness and occasional chaos that is the reality of family breakfast at home with young kids. And would you really have it any other way? These are the little details and moments that really represent a family, that I really love to capture with my photography, creating images for families that freeze time in this instant, before the kids grow and change and become incredible in totally new and different ways.
So, early on a Sunday morning, I arrived at the Zemans’ home to capture some of that beautiful chaos over breakfast.
Pass the baby over the table! I know we’ve pulled this move so many times, who hasn’t?
Such a delicious little face! Mom just couldn’t resist, and you can’t blame her 😉
As a mom of two young kids, this moment feels so true to me.
This right here, this is going to be one of dad’s favorite memories of his daughter being little enough to lift up and belly kiss. And when she’s no longer small enough to do this to, one day she’ll love seeing this moment she had with daddy.
Gorgeous and funny and so sweet together, what more could you ask for than these siblings!
I LOVE the look on little brother’s face here! My little boy makes the same face when big sister plants a big kiss on him, and I bet he always will 😉Oh, the chubby baby legs… So scrumptious!
As soon as I saw the piano in the living room, I was praying for a family dance party to break out! Just my luck, breakfast was done and big sister went right over and started playing. She’s getting lessons from dad, and I was so excited to capture a little bit of this special connection that they have together. And who knows, when she’s older and thinking that she doesn’t want lessons anymore she may look at these and change her mind 😉
Baby brother fell asleep on the couch, so it was time for mommy to get in on the action. Lots of twirling ensued, as it should!
And they just won’t fit so easily in your arms forever…
Back to serious business, big sister insisted on taking over the piano playing so that mom and dad could dance together.
And they admitted, this was the first time they had really danced together like this since their wedding day!
Even with all of the important dancing, twirling and playing she had to do, she took a very short break to come check on baby brother. Just a brief, quiet moment for big sister to tuck in her little brother, and melt everyone’s hearts just a little more.
They’re not perfectly posed, they may not be totally clean and well kempt, but they’re beautiful and they’re yours. And as a mom, I know that these are the types of moments that I feel slipping through my fingers and I want to save them forever in my heart. I hope that when this mom and dad look at these they make them smile and say “these are ours, this is our family”.
