Schuylkill River Elopment

What do you need for a successful elopement in Philly?

Do you need the perfect, overcast skies that hold off the rain until just after your ceremony? No, but it sure is nice if the weather cooperates. Do you need a cutie ring-bearer to bring your rings to you? No, but it never hurts to have a sweet kiddo to raise the cuteness factor at your wedding. Do you need to write “patriarchy” on the glass you break at the end? I mean, technically no, but what a wasted, badass opportunity if you don’t! And do you need fresh cannoli to start your marriage off to a sweet start? I’m going to say yes to that one 😉

(PS how much did writing this make me feel like I was reading “Where’s Spot” 😆)

Ray and Asher had one of my all-time favorite weddings, the sweetest elopement right by the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. With a few close friends, we walked down the Parkway a bit until we found a quiet spot by the river for their ceremony. They spoke heartfelt words to each other about their hopes for the future and their life together. Friends officiated, witnessed, held up phones so family could watch from afar. They exchanged rings, Asher smashed the patriarchy glass, and we toasted to their union with fresh Termini Bros cannoli.

It looked like rain the whole time, but didn’t start to sprinkle until we were walking back!

You don’t really need any of these things to get married. It’s so much fun to see how any couple makes a wedding personal to them, the details and ideas that really make it unique. But all you really need is the person you love, right?

Thinking about eloping in Philly? I’d love to help you capture all of the personal details you’re planning to include! I’m available for a limited number of weddings each year, be in touch soon 😄
