Zoya and her mommies, Penn Treaty Park, Family Photography Philadelphia

There are a lot of things that I love about photographing families in Philly, and high on the list is getting to meet so many genuinely wonderful people. Yana and Chita definitely fall in that category. I of course got to know them pretty well when they hired me to photograph the birth of their gorgeous daughter, Zoya. But since then, I've gotten to see them grow into amazing mommies, and to learn a bit about their work advocating for gay rights with the Human Rights Campaign in Philadelphia. It's such a huge compliment when a family asks me to photograph them again, and it's extra special when the moms happen to be great photographers, too! Back in August, they helped us celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary by recreating our photos in Rittenhouse Square, and it was my pleasure to return the favor. On one of the last warm days in October, we met up in Penn Treaty Park to capture a little slice of how adorable their family is together. Zoya is growing into such a funny, spunky little woman, just like her mommies, and we had so much fun together in the beautiful setting sunlight. Yana and Chita are so sweet together, we just had to steal a few moments just for the two of them. Then it was back to mom duty! They would have looked great anywhere, but the amazing view of the Delaware River from the park didn't hurt at all. We ended our time together with a quiet nursing session under the willow trees. Watching Zoya reach up to play with Chita's curls, the way her little baby fingers wrapped themselves in her hair, felt so familiar and sweet.I have loved watching them grow into amazing parents together. And the way Chita fixes Yana's hair as it blows in the wind, and how Yana gets teary eyed just being close to her wife and thinking about how much they love each other, how they laugh together and the way they look at each other and their baby girl... I just can't wait to see what's next for their little family! Lots of love to the three of you!
