Philadelphia Family Photographer, Maternity session at home with toddler

When I asked Holly what she would most like to capture during her maternity session, she really wanted to focus on how special the last couple weeks were before they became a family of four. Their son had been so sweet and excited about becoming a big brother, and they wanted to capture some real moments of their life as it was at this time. Especially the toddler part!Right away, this kid's sweet and silly personality came right out. Lots of snuggles for mom and dad, and then... a tantrum. And if that's not real life with a toddler, I don't know what is! I always tell my families that I'll shoot through everything that happens in our time together, and I'm not kidding. So when he flopped down on the floor for a fit, I got down on the floor with him. And those ended up being some of mom and dad's favorite pictures! Then I was able to pull the "well, I guess we'll all go upstairs without you" trick, and he snapped right out of it and wanted to lead the parade up to mom and dad's room. Naturally, lots of jumping on the bed ensued, followed by some quality tickling, and a big group hug. He did stop for a quick break to check in on baby in mommy's tummy, and then we were back downstairs for more fun. That image of mom and her little boy on the floor turned out to be her top favorite, and I could totally relate. These are the things we do every day with our kids, that seem so banal at the time, and then we blink and they've moved on to something else. I love that she wanted to remember this time with her son, when they could just sit on the floor and play together. Though even that was impressive considering her big gorgeous belly! We finished our time together with a little indoor football, a hot chocolate break, a few stolen moments between mom and dad, and a little time for this beautiful mama to feel the love from her two special guys. So much love in this family, this is one super lucky baby.

What are your favorite things that your family does together, those little moments that might seem so simple but you'll remember so sweetly when they're older? Be in touch, I would love to hear about it!
