Tiny baby, big personality, Philadelphia Newborn Photography

Every time I'm invited into a family's home for a newborn session is an honor. I love being there to document those first sleepy, snuggly days, and to capture what it feels like to have your new little person at home with you. It is so important, as those first weeks can sometimes go by in a blur, to pause for a moment to appreciate it.This little one was two weeks old when I came to meet him and his parents, and was still in that sweet, scrawny, brand new baby phase. All three of my babies came out like that and I was so happy to have photos of them before they plumped up! And even though baby A was still so little, he was definitely not short on character. He was a little sleepy when I got there but perked right up as we worked. He made some amazing faces, gave mom and dad a few beautiful smiles, and had the most wonderful eye contact. He would stare right at mom and dad, and I got him looking right at my camera to see those huge, beautiful, grey eyes. I adore a sleepy baby, but it's so much more fun to photograph them awake because you get to see so much personality and get a little peek at who this little person is going to be.We started off in the blue and grey nursery, decorated in cute woodland creatures and the coolest moon lamp; it was such a calm, soothing space, I definitely got why mom loved it in there. Then it was on to the big bed in the master bedroom, one of my favorite places to shoot. We marveled at his tiny hands and feet, and the soft newborn fuzz still on his arms and back. Baby boy was content to stare out of the big windows and soak up all the love from mommy and daddy.  It was one of the coldest days in Philly this winter, but it was definitely plenty warm and cozy inside with this sweet family.
